Be Transformed
The Bible says, “Don’t not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2 BSB
The TPT version says, “Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.”
This is so important now more than ever as our world is increasingly influenced by globalist and Marxist ideologies that erode the foundations of our nation, which was built on biblical principles that gave glory and honor to God. Our country has long been a beacon of hope, freedom, and democracy—a city on a hill. Yet, now the prevailing ideology and fruit thereof looks more like the days of Noah. Most shockingly, it has even infiltrated the church!
What do we do then? It begins with each and every one of us. We DAILY need to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. This passage is the answer for our world today. We need to test these prevailing world views and ideologies, especially guarding the church from this infiltration. God has always had the answers to all our questions and all our needs, these answers are found in His infallible Word.
The original Greek translation of “Be Transformed” is metamorphoo which means to transform, transfigure, change after being with, changing form in keeping with inner reality, properly transformed after being with. This is the same word used to describe Jesus’ Transfiguration, in Matthew 17:2, “There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.”
This word is also used to capture the meaning of the transformation that a butterfly undergoes during metamorphosis. Just as a caterpillar is radically changed into a beautiful butterfly, we too are called to undergo a profound transformation in our lives—emerging from worldly patterns into the new life God intends for us. This process of renewal isn’t superficial; it’s a deep, inner transformation that aligns us with God’s perfect will. What a beautiful metaphor to help us picture what is possible in our own lives.

Is there a promise to claim? Yes, We can know God’s good and perfect will.
Is there a sin to avoid? Yes, Sin is defined as missing the mark in archery, which is perfection. We miss the mark when we conform to the pattern and thinking of this world.
Is there a command to obey? Yes, Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Lord, awaken Your church! Stir Your people! Open the eyes of those who don’t yet know You. Make them hungry for the truth—Your truth that sets us free. Your truth anchors us in life’s tumultuous storms. It satisfies our hungry and thirsty souls, never disappoints, and never returns void. It is dependable, the rock on which we stand. Your Word is the answer to every question and need, the only source of hope, meaning, and purpose. It points us to the ultimate solution for our depravity—JESUS! Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for preserving it for all time, and thank You for sending us JESUS, the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE!
