Do you want to hear God’s voice?

So many people I talk to don’t know how to hear God’s voice. They can read His Word and pray, but feel like He is silent. They don’t feel like He speaks to them to guide them in their way. They desire a close relationship with God where He directs their paths:

“The Lord… your Teacher will no longer hide Himself, but your eyes will behold your Teacher. Your ears will hear a word behind you, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left.” (Isaiah 30:20-21)

Do you want to really know God? Do you want to love God and be loved by Him? Do you want to have a relationship with Jesus? Do you want to hear Jesus speak to you and guide you?

As good as we feel when we worship God through music, this is not the foundation for our relationship with the Lord Jesus. Good feelings generated through music is not the goal of our Christian life. To truly know and feel the love of God we must be obedient to God.

Obey the commands of Jesus and you will feel his love and you will know Him in deeper ways than you ever have before.

What are some of his commands? A big one is to follow Jesus and make disciples:

And Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” (Mark 1:17)

And what is the result of obeying His commands?

“He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” (John 14:21)

When we share our faith, we obey his commandment. He will love us in return and disclose Himself to us.  We will feel his presence so close as the Holy Spirit moves in us.

Obedience to Christ leads to feeling the love of Christ and experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit:

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

“but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

My prayer – “Lord today, let me be faithful to obey your command to share the Gospel with others. Let me show this through my actions of love for others, but just as importantly Lord, let me share about you with my words. And Lord as I am obedient, please let me experience your love in deeper ways and disclose yourself to me. Let me be so close to you that I hear your voice guiding me! Let me share my testimony of your goodness with others and let me share the basic truth of the Gospel — that Jesus died for the sins of the world and that by receiving this free gift of salvation we are forgiven of our sins and we have eternal life. Help me Lord to obey you. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.”
