Early Morning Love Songs
There is a song by the Paper Kites called “Bloom” and it was played at my daughter’s wedding reception. It’s a beautiful love song between a couple, but could also be applied to the love song between a child of God and his Savior:
The song is easy to play on guitar as it only has three chords. When I sing it, I sing the chorus as a love song to Jesus:
“Can I be close to you? Jesus, Jesus! Can I be close to you? Jesus, Jesus!”
I often like to get up early and play guitar and sing worship songs. It is so important to develop our love song for the Lord. It is the love song that sustains us during trials, tribulations, and persecutions. As well our love songs sung in private with our Lord gives us the courage and strength to share the Gospel with unbelievers.
“1 It is good to give thanks to the LORD And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; 2 To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning And Your faithfulness by night, 3 With the ten-stringed lute and with the harp, With resounding music upon the lyre. 4 For You, O LORD, have made me glad by what You have done, I will sing for joy at the works of Your hands.” (Psalm 92:1-4)
Another great song expressing the early morning worship times is this Christian classic “Holy, Holy, Holy” there is the stanza:
“Holy, holy, holy. Lord God Almighty, Early in the morning, our songs shall rise to Thee”
For those early risers here is a passage from Isaiah 50 that shows the importance of these devotional times in the early morning hours to strengthen us to the opposition and persecution from others as experienced by our Lord Jesus Christ:
“4 The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of disciples, That I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word. He awakens me morning by morning, He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple. 5 The Lord GOD has opened My ear; And I was not disobedient Nor did I turn back. 6 I gave My back to those who strike me, And My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard; I did not cover My face from humiliation and spitting. 7 For the Lord GOD helps Me, Therefore, I am not disgraced; Therefore, I have set My face like flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed. 8 He who vindicates Me is near; Who will contend with Me? Let us stand up to each other; Who has a case against Me? Let him draw near to Me. 9 Behold, the Lord GOD helps Me; Who is he who condemns Me? Behold, they will all wear out like a garment; The moth will eat them. 10 Who is among you that fears the LORD, That obeys the voice of His servant, That walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God.” (Isaiah 50:4-10)
