How Do You Know What’s True?
In a world saturated with varying opinions and shifting standards, the pursuit of truth can often feel like navigating a maze. Yet, as believers, we are called to anchor ourselves in the unwavering truth of God’s Word.
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:32
This profound statement by Jesus reminds us that truth isn’t just a concept; it’s a liberating force. The truth of God’s love, His promises, and His plan for our lives breaks the chains of deception and fear.
The Bible speaks often about the battle between truth and lies. The enemy, Satan, is described as the “father of lies” (John 8:44), constantly seeking to distort and deceive. His lies can appear convincing, even attractive, but they lead to confusion, despair, and ultimately, destruction.
Jesus is the Answer
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.” – John 14:6
Through Him, we find the path to eternal life, a clear direction for our journey, and the assurance that we are deeply loved and known by our Creator.
Where Truth is Found
To navigate this battle, we must immerse ourselves in Scripture, where God’s truth is revealed.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105
By consistently studying the Bible with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we equip ourselves with wisdom and discernment to recognize and reject the lies of the enemy.
Embracing Truth Involves Living It Out
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” – James 1:22
Our lives should be a testament to the truth we profess. When we act with integrity, speak with honesty, and love with sincerity, we reflect the nature of Christ and stand as beacons of truth in a world desperate for authenticity.
In times of doubt and confusion, let us hold fast to the truth of who God is and who we are in Him. Let us reject the lies that seek to undermine our faith and our identity. And let us remember that, in God’s truth, there is freedom, clarity, and unshakeable hope.
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” – Philippians 4:8
May we be steadfast in our pursuit of truth, allowing it to shape our hearts, guide our actions, and shine brightly in a world that needs the light of Christ.
Even if the world doesn’t see it and many are blinded to the truth, we can stand confidently in the peace of knowing the truth.
I recently heard a good quote in the new movie Fly Me to the Moon. I am a total truth and justice girl. I can get riled up and lose my peace if I focus too much on this topsy turvy world filled with lies and injustice. I love the conclusion at the end of this movie with these words…
“A lie is a lie even if everyone believes it. The truth is the truth even if nobody believes it.” David Stevens
So in conclusion…Let’s embrace the truth, live it out boldly, and let it set us free!
