Spiritual Goal Planning Adventures

I have always loved the fresh start of a new year by making goals and plans for the year.  However, I can’t really think of a year that I actually accomplished all that I set out to accomplish.  That is until 2020!

You may be thinking, how in the world during a year like 2020 when no one saw what was coming and all plans were a bust did you accomplish that?

Well, that is because in 2020 we started doing spiritual goal planning as a couple before heading into the new year.  This will be our 5th year.  We have been married for 35 years and we started our marriage with a desire to put the Lord first in all we do, but these last five years have been the most thrilling as we have leveled up our spiritual life and ministry each year.  It has become the grandest adventure since.  Instead of focusing on building treasures on earth, we have become rich in spiritual blessings.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.”

The future of our world is so uncertain right now.  Things are getting harder each year in these end times.  So there is no better time to rethink traditional year-end planning and resolution-making and make time to focus on our spiritual lives for the coming year.

I hate to say it but if you go into the new year expecting everything to get back to normal and you can finally get back to all your goals and plans for the coming year, you are setting yourself up for grave disappointment.

I really do hope things get better in the coming year but whether they do or they don’t, I promise you that if you focus on spiritual things in the coming year you will be full of peace, joy, and hope. But above all that, you will become RICH in every spiritual blessing the Lord has for you.

My husband and I have refined our process each year by creating a planner to help guide us.  We end every year reviewing what we wrote in our planner the previous year. It is surprising how much we forget so we are glad we are writing these things down.
